Handmade by Hiroyuki Tomita in Kanagawa, Japan
The cup is adorned with a vivid red and gold checkerboard pattern, creating a visually dynamic and opulent surface. The cup's irregularly shaped handles extend outward in an expressive and whimsical manner, adding a sculptural element to its design. The textured and fragmented surface enhances its tactile and visual appeal, making it a standout piece.
Hiroyuki Tomita's innovative approach to ceramics is evident in this piece, where he balances tradition with creativity. The use of red and gold evokes a sense of celebration and luxury, while the unconventional form highlights his ability to push the boundaries of functionality and art.

Hiroyuki Tomita produces ceramic works in a wide range of fields related to life, from tableware that decorates the dining table to the walls of hotels and inns. He learns from ancient arts, but at the same time he always keeps his perspectives fresh. Luster overglazes (such as gold, silver, platinum) are heavily used in his pieces. As an overglaze, it is applied to an already glazed and fired surface, and is then fired again to permanently affix it to a piece. Because luster overglazes are made of actual gold, the end result is a brilliance unlike anything else in the ceramics field.
His art pieces are displayed at "Izu Okawa Onsen Isarika", "Ikaho Onsen Kishiken Ryokan", "InterContinental Osaka", "St. Regis Osaka", "Otoya New York Greenwich village Store", etc.
